‘Maudie’ is the amazing true story of a Canadian artist.

Maudie is frustrated with her home situation, living with an aunt she can’t get along with. She moves out to become a live-in housekeeper for a fish monger named Everett. Everett’s cantankerous nature, triggered by Maudie’s quick wit, often causes havoc in their living situation. But their testy interactions slowly form into a bound and they learn to love and rely on one another.

 
 


Maudie’s physical challenges, amplified by severe arthritis, don’t slow her down. She maintains the household while pursuing her love of painting. Her unique creations are simplistic and endearing. She garners national and international recognition for her pieces.

I had a difficult time being left behind. Going to school was hard for John, too. The school was run by nuns, even though it was a public school. EPIGRAPH   A brave man once requested me To answer questions that are key Is it to be or not to be And I replied, “Oh why ask me?” M.A.S.H. theme song: “Suicide is Painless” by Mike Altman and Johnny Mandel   I wanted to use words from the song 'Suicide is Painless' in the title of the book, but it seemed absurd and inappropriate, considering the piece was meant to be the "stupidest song ever written" (Robert Altman). As M.A.S.H.'s movie director, Robert Altman wanted it sung during the staged funeral of a medic who had faked suicide. The director's son, 14-year-old Mike Altman, wrote the lyrics in under an hour and it became a No. 1 hit in the UK. Music lovers obviously didn't consider it a stupid song.
